Wangdue Phodrang Dzongkhag is one of the largest and most diverse districts in Bhutan. It is located in central Bhutan and is bordered by the districts of Punakha, Gasa, Trongsa, Tsirang, and Dagana. The district is known for its historic fortress, Wangdue Phodrang Dzong, which was built in 1638 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal.
