Background
Tamchog Lhakhang, also known as Tamchog Monastery, was constructed in the 15th century by Thang Thong Gyalpo, a revered Tibetan saint and bridge builder. Situated along the Paro-Thimphu Highway, Tamchog Lhakhang is strategically positioned on the banks of the Paro Chhu River, approximately halfway between Paro and Thimphu, two major cities in Bhutan.
